چکیده

The Operant Motive Test (OMT) has been conceptionalized to measure the amalgam of aroused needs and motive-relevant traits which specifies an implementation strategy of the motive. Therefore the OMT differs conceptionally from the TAT. In Study 1 we found empirical evidence for this interaction hypothesis. The OMT, but not the TAT, was a function of a significant interaction effect of an aroused affiliation need and agreeableness. The overall correlation between OMT and TAT was small and only marginally significant in an experimental arousal condition. Study 1 also yielded evidence that the OMT measure of affiliation (i.e. m affiliation) has construct validity. Study 2 gave indirect evidence for stability of OMT m affiliation. In Study 3 the OMT predicted peer ratings of customer service

The implicit affiliation motive moderates cortisol responses to acute psychosocial stress in high school students.

It has been previously shown that the implicit affiliation motive - the need to establish and maintain friendly relationships with others - leads to chronic health benefits. The underlying assumption for the present research was that the implicit affiliation motive also moderates the salivary cortisol response to acute psychological stress when some aspects of social evaluation and uncontrollab...

The Pictorial Attitude Implicit Association Test for Need for Affiliation

The Pictorial Attitude Implicit Association Test (PA-IAT) has recently been developed as a new measure of need for power. This study aims to extend the scope of the PA-IAT to need for affiliation. In line with implicit motive theory, results show that the need for affiliation PA-IAT predicts non-declarative measures of motivation provided that need for affiliation is activated. We also obtained...

The type of implicit motive enactment is modulated by sex hormones in naturally cycling women.

Sex hormones have been reported to dynamically modulate the expression of implicit motives, a concept that has previously been thought to be relatively stable over time. This study investigates to what extent the need for affiliation, power, and achievement, as well as the form of enactment of these needs as measured with the Operant Motive Test (OMT), is affected by cycle-phase dependent sex h...

Assessment of implicit motives with a research version of the TAT: picture profiles, gender differences, and relations to other personality measures.

Four hundred twenty-eight participants wrote imaginative stories in response to 6 picture cues of a research version of the Thematic Apperception Test (TAT; Morgan & Murray, 1935). Story protocols were coded for n (need) Power, n Achievement, and n Affiliation using Winter's (1991) integrated scoring system that provided detailed information about the motive profiles of individual picture cues....
